When I mean breakfast, eggs are the key ingredients and are one of the most important if you want a balanced, healthy protein meal. I always have a dose of eggs in the fridge. Eggs pair alongside many other dishes or stand alone as a main dish. I consider them an essential product for breakfast. 

It is a myth that eggs can harm or aren’t good. Everything in large quantities can harm our bodies, but eating eggs in the morning has numerous benefits. The recommendation that I take into consideration is to eat eggs for breakfast. Eggs make us feel full longer as they fuel our bodies with energy. Our digestion system works better in the morning, so it will be easier to break down proteins from eggs. One more positive fact about eggs is that they are highly satiating that promote weight loss. So you can have a nice-looking body by eating them regularly in the morning.

Today I came up with a fancy and exciting recipe. So if you want to surprise your guests with a special occasion brunch or breakfast, this baked eggs in bread bowls recipe is a good chance for you. Why not? Baked eggs are quick to prepare, satisfying, and full of protein.

Eggs are very nutritious single-food items you can eat. One large whole egg contains 77 calories. The white has about 6 grams of protein. The yolk has about 5 grams of healthy fat.

The yolk contains vitamins such as B12, B2, A, and B5. Also, although in smaller amounts, it contains vitamins and minerals like vitamin E, calcium, zinc, iron, folate, potassium, manganese, and essential amino acids.

How to make Baked Eggs for Breakfast?

This delicious recipe is nothing more than eggs that are baked in bread bowls with cheese, herbs, and tomatoes. My recipe contains no meat, but if you decide to add some bacon or ham, it will only add more flavor. Baked eggs for breakfast is about comfort, satisfaction, pleasant taste, and much more.

baked eggsAs for the bread, any unsweetened buns will work great here. Just for note: if you choose a crunchy type of bread such as ciabatta, you will undoubtedly get crunchy shells. Otherwise, if you select a soft kind of bun, you will end up with soft shells for the eggs.

This baked egg recipe is super easy – you can always adjust the cooking to soft, medium, or hard eggs. Also, you can add various toppings and cheeses and bake them versatile.

 Hollow out any extra bread until there is a hole large enough. Make sure you make it carefully without damaging the edges of the buns.

Arrange the buns on a baking tray.  Grease the bottom of the bread with tomato sauce. I have used my homemade Taco Sauce. Sometimes, I substitute it with Buffalo Sauce or even homemade Pesto Sauce. It all depends on my craving.

baked eggsNow sprinkle a layer of cheese. I opt for Gouda cheese, but I assure you any cheese will work here. Crack the eggs, one at a time, in a small bowl and then carefully pour it over the cheese. Top with some chopped tomatoes and fresh basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 

Send to preheated oven for 15 -20 minutes, depending on how runny you like the yolk. Make sure the egg whites are set.

Serve the baked egg right away! Sprinkle some extra fresh herbs and seasoning if you desire

  • 4 tbsp tomato sauce Taco sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese Gouda cheese
  • 1/3 cup diced tomatoes
  • 4 tsp chopped fresh basil
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
