What is a sorbet?
Sorbet is always a dairy and egg-free frozen treat that is usually made from sweetened fruit or berries.Â
Many people confuse ice cream with sorbet and think that these are the same thing. Actually, ice cream contains animal fat, while the sorbet is composed only of flavor ( fruits, berries), sugar, and sometimes water or liquor.Â

How to make Strawberry Lemon Basil Sorbet?
No one wants to spend a lot of time in the kitchen when outside is summer and sunny days. If you want a quick, delicious, and refreshing dessert, I recommend making a homemade strawberry lemon basil sorbet recipe. It only takes 5 minutes to prepare one of the most irresistible and flavorful desserts.Â
One more positive moment about this recipe is that you don’t need a certain recipe — just a little creativity and some basic principle to follow. And, et voila!
Wash and dry strawberries. Then hull and slice them. The sorbet would be more flavorful if you will take freshly picked berries. Also, taste how sweet your strawberries are. So you can regulate the sweetness of your sorbet.Â
Most summer berries are sweet enough on their own, so you don’t have to add to much sugar. Although, sugar plays an important role and it is crucial for the sorbet texture. I found in many sorbet recipes that instead of sugar is recommended s simple sugar syrup. I do not want any water in my sorbet, so I just added sugar.
Basil balances the sweet flavor of strawberries with some tang. And I also added a good amount of fresh-squeezed lemon juice, which helps maintain the intense color of the berries.
Grab 2 lb of strawberries (washed and hulled), and transfer them to a blender (or food processor). Then add in about 1 cup of sugar, the juice from half of the lemon, and â…“ cup of chopped basil. Process ingredients until completely smooth. I simply adore how easy this strawberry sorbet can be made with few ingredients combined in a blender just in a minute.
Transfer mixture into an airtight container and sent to the freezer overnight or at least 6 hours.
