Bananas? Who loves them so much I do?

In my family, bananas, especially baby bananas, are never missing from my fridge. My daughter loves them, and I always try to have them to add to her oat porridge, in fruit salads, or to make a fabulous tasting banana split dessert.

Sweet and Healthy Banana Split DessertIf you have never tried baked or fried bananas, then it is time.

When I have tasted banana split dessert for the first time, I was so sceptical about ordering or not that dessert. Thank God I did, as I simply got in love with it.

I adored how it looked, and the sweet cinnamon tastes with a scoop of ice cream and some whipped cream tasted really out of this world. These are some of the beloved ingredients that I go mad when I crave for something sweet—a great combination with a precious lasting memory.

This dessert looks and tastes at its best. It is so simple to make that you need no much time and effort, just imagination and a spoon to dive in.

What does banana split mean?

Banana split means a fried or baked half-cut banana topped with ice cream and usually garnished with flavoured whipped cream, Maple syrup, different kind of fruits, or nuts — a super delicious and lingering dessert to die after.

A banana split dessert is versatile and easily customisable. You can use any kind of ice cream, any toppings or flavoured garnishes. Here your imagination knows no limits.

What I love most about such easy but lingering desserts is the quick and fast way they are done, and my daughter loves to help me assemble them.

If you want to impress your family or guests, this restaurant-looking banana dessert will definitely make that point. It has a lovely aspect, a savoury and sweet taste, and assembles quick.

How to make a banana split?

Making banana split at home is easy as it sounds. The only ingredients you need to have are the ones you have already in your kitchen.

Sweet and Healthy Banana Split Ingredients

  • Some ripe bananas
  • Nutella or Whipped Cream
  • Cinnamon powder
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla ice-cream or black chocolate ice cream
  • Any nuts or almond flakes work great here.

Take a large cutting board and slice in half lengthwise two bananas. Take a skillet, cut slices of bananas down, and pour some sugar, honey, and cinnamon.

Here you have two options to prepare this dessert: either bake them for 5 minutes in the oven with an aluminium foil covering skillet. Or, frying them on the stove for some 5 to 7 minutes until soft and caramelised.

Sweet and Healthy Banana SplitPay attention that the bananas shouldn’t look too soft and mashy.

Take a plater and start layering.

Add bananas with the cut sides up and top two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Garnish with whipped cream, fruits, and almond flakes.

I have garnished with blueberries, strawberries, and some chocolate syrup.

Take a spoon and dare to enjoy the moment.

 Simple and delicious.
