Can I eat a sandwich on a keto diet?

Definitely, you can! Even on a keto diet, you can delight yourself with a delicious sammie. However, you must take into consideration and respect your keto diet ratio and obviously count carb intake. The main ingredient of any sandwich – bread – is pure carbohydrate. So here we should find a solution.

What can I use instead of bread for avocado toast?

These days, a vast variation of lower-carb alternatives to bread exists. More and more often, you can find different types of keto bread in specialized stores. Also, some people prefer to use Ezekiel bread and cloud bread. A good alternative can serve you low-carb crackers or rice cakes.

Even if avocado contains more protein than other fruits, it can not replace the total amount of protein you need daily. Here are some proteins that go perfectly with avocado:

  • Eggs
  • Salmon ( smoked and lightly salted)
  • Tuna ( both canned and fresh)
  • Bacon
  • Ham (turkey, pork)
  • Chickpeas
  • Black beans.

How do you make a Keto Avocado Sandwich with Eggs?

Since the sandwich can be made in just a few minutes, begin with boiling eggs.

Meanwhile, slice keto bread. For this recipe, you will also need good and ripe avocado. To choose the right avocado, read our article. So grab a ripe avocado and cut it in halves. Remove the pit and spoon out the flesh of an avocado. Ripe avocados should peel off easily.  Smash the flesh using a fork. Add a splash of olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Mix to combine everything.

Keto Avocado Sandwich with EggsOnce eggs are boiled hard, peel them, starting at the large end. Grate hard-boiled eggs through the tight slots of a cheese grater. Also, grate some cheese. This time, I found a piece of truffle cheese in my fridge.

To assemble the sandwich, first top the bread with smashed avocado. Top with some grated cheese and then with eggs. Sprinkle some chili flakes if desired.
