How to scale and clean the fish?
If you plan to cook a recipe based on fresh fish, it is essential to know how to clean and fillet it if necessary. To clean the fish you will need 2 main tools: a knife and a “scaler”, a useful tool to easily remove all the scales of the fish. It is absolutely necessary that the fish you are about to clean and cook is fresh. To verify if the fish is fresh, you need to check 3 things. First, check that the eye is vivid. Second, the skin has a bright color. Third, the flesh is firm upon touching.
Now, start by cleaning the fish from its intestines. Place the fish on a cutting board and make a cut on the belly and proceed straight up under the head. Grab the entrails with your hands and remove them. Wash well the belly of the fish under running water to remove any traces of blood.
With the appropriate scaler tool, or with the blade of a knife, carefully scale the sea bream. Pass the tool from the tail to the head in a repeated manner. To reduce the mess, carry out this operation under running water, or, placing the fish in a bag. Wash it again under running water. Now your sea bream is ready to be seasoned and cooked.
How to marinate fish?
This recipe of baked sea bream is so easy to make because you only need few ingredients to prepare the marinade. Therefore, you need olive oil, juice squeezed of fresh lemon, rosemary sprigs, granulated garlic, and salt. Yes, as little as it may seem is more than enough to prepare a perfectly balanced in taste baked sea bream. Just imagine the blend of flavors: the refreshing and sour taste of the lemon juice along with the woody and herbal scents of olive oil and rosemary.
Rub the salt and the granulated garlic into the skin of the fish and sprinkle some of it in the inside of the belly. Then mix the lemon juice with the olive oil, shake well and pour over the fish. Insert one rosemary sprig and one lemon slice into each of the fishes you intend to marinate and let it absorb all the flavors for about 30 minutes.
How to bake sea bream?
Now you are one step closer to getting the most succulent and delicious baked sea bream. Preheat oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. In the meantime, line a parchment paper on a baking tray and lay on the marinated fish. Insert the tray into the hot oven and bake the sea bream at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 minutes.
