What is an apple crumble?
The apple crumble is an English dessert that is part of the home tradition. Its rustic taste and easy preparation have made it famous and highly appreciated all over the world. The apple crumble is made of two layers of inseparable goodness. The base layer is made of soft and juicy cooked apples coated in maple syrup or honey. The top layer is a crunchy cinnamon-scented shell that has the characteristic “crumbly” consistency. Crumbles can be made with countless other fruits such as cherries, peaches, rhubarb but they can also be made in a salty version like the vegetable crumble! It is best served hot, accompanied by a delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients for apple crumble
The delicious apple crumble is simple to make because it is based on all genuine ingredients. To make the most aromatic dessert you only need basic ingredients such as flour, sugar, cinnamon, and butter. And of course, many dices of apple that will give a very soft texture that melts on the bite and have an unmistakable scent.
To add more crunchiness and earthy notes to this heaven-tasting dessert, I like adding almond flakes to the batter. It is just so much crispier and fuller in taste. Don’t skip the vanilla extract, and you know why. Vanilla in desserts is like ketchup for the fries.

How to cook the apple crumble?
I think it is one of the easiest desserts I have in my collection. Apple crumble is an easy dessert, you just need to be patient to peel and slice lots of apples. Perfect for snack time, but also as a dessert at the end of a meal.
Separate the preparation into 2 parts: the apples and the crumbly top. However, the first thing you need to start with is preheating the oven.
The apples. Choose whatever apples you like most, you can go for green, red, or yellow. Slice the apples into halves, use a sharp knife to remove the seeds, and peel the skin off. Now cube the skinless apples and put them in a baking dish. At this point coat them in sugar and cinnamon powder and mix. The first part of the cooking is ready. Now the crumbly top.
The crumbly top. Use a bowl to mix the ingredients. Combine the flour, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and the ground cinnamon altogether and mix using a spatula or your hands. To make the top even crunchier, I like to add some crushed almond flakes to the batter. Mix well until everything is well incorporated and spread the mixture on top of the apples. Garnish the apple crumble with more almond flakes and send the baking dish to the preheated oven at 400F for 20 minutes.
How to serve the apple crumble?
Apple crumble is served hot and cold accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream or cinnamon-flavored cream! An amazing delight! Follow the recipe step by step and everyone will compliment you and will ask for more!
