The best way to keep the fruits from darkening is to splash the fruit cubes with lemon juice or other acidic juice such as orange or pineapple juice. When you coat fruits such as bananas, peaches, or apples with natural fruit acid, they will tend to darken way slower and will preserve a beautiful, fresh aspect. I recommend sticking to the natural juices over the commercial anti-darkening preparation. Â

It is very important to use clean fruits when preparing a fruit salad or a fruit bowl. To make sure your fruits are clean, always rinse the products in the first place, even before peeling them.
