Truffle mushroom pasta is an extravaganza dish to nicely surprise your family. The savory flavor of black truffles mixed with Parmigiano and pasta is a luxurious meal done in minutes.
What are truffles?
Truffles are some of the most expensive mushrooms that have a musky/gamy taste, frequently used in different dishes but more popular in pasta. These small creatures that taste fabulous grow underneath the surface; finding them is very difficult, so you need experienced and trained dogs to find them.
I remember our Tuscany truffle hunting day; that was one of the best days there; we had two lovely dogs finding truffles. Because it was late April, we found only black truffles and Bianchetto. These dogs are trained to find truffles from an early age; teaching them is very expensive, so truffles are a delicacy nowadays. It is a worthwhile experience when you find fresh, very good-smelling truffles which you can use right away in any dish.
How to serve Truffles?
In my family, pasta is one of the most beloved dishes, especially for my daughter. She could eat pasta all day long. Truffle was a discovery for my daughter, and she loved it at once.
The aroma of freshly grated truffles in butter is one of the best ways to extend the smell. Pasta cooked in truffle butter topped with fresh grated black truffles is something you lust for.
I don’t make truffle pasta often at home; more frequently, we enjoy this dish in a restaurant, as I don’t know all the hidden secrets making it that lingering as a good chef is doing. However, it is not an obstacle for me to make simple pasta with truffles at home.
The rich and creamy pasta, all infused with Parmigiano and truffle flavor, is extremely delicious and savory—an expensive dish with some costly ingredients that can make your evening remembered. Complicated recipes are not my comfort zone, I try to be more in salads and toasts, but I have tried this recipe at home, and I think the result was satisfying, as my family enjoyed the dinner.
Fresh truffles are hard to keep, so I have bought just a few and used them in different dishes. Truffle oil is also an option but is more about flavor than taste. I have tried other dips with truffle aromas, and they are okay, but trust me, when you enjoy a delicious creamy pasta with freshly grated truffles on top, this is another pair of shoes.
