Pineapple Agua Fresca, translated as ‘freshwater’, is a revitalising drink with a refreshing taste and amazing yellow colour.
One of the most popular Mexican drinks, Pineapple agua fresca, is made of water, pineapple chunks, lime juice and sweetener if needed. Pineapples have a sweet taste and are healthy to eat. I like pineapples and try to eat them raw as they digest excellently after copious meals. Like many other fruits, you should carefully choose pineapples. You have to pay attention to its smell; it must be ripe and slightly soft to blend it quickly. If your pineapple is hard or solid, you have chosen an unripe pineapple. This pineapple agua fresca drink recipe is easy to make and will refresh your day during hot days. You can make more of this drink when you have a party, and it is also an excellent drink for kids, instead of market-bought juices.
You can check other fresher and non-alcoholic drinks such as Refreshing Peach Iced Tea, Refreshing Watermelon Lemonade, Fresh and Citrusy Lemonade, and others.
I didn’t add any sweeteners as my pineapple was sweet enough, and the drink tasted fabulous. However, you can add sugar, honey, maple syrup or whatever sweeteners you have. The pineapple I chose was juicy, soft, and super sweet; probably this is why my drink tasted amazing.
What is agua fresca, and what is it made of?
Agua fresca, as I have already mentioned, is freshwater and a famous drink in Mexico. Pineapple fruit is the most popular blend with water for this drink, but you can replace it with melon, watermelon, or mango. A refreshing drink to enjoy in summer. A shot of tequila will add headiness, and the cocktail will take another level of seductiveness.
What is the flavour of agua fresca?
Agua fresca has a fresh, light, refreshing fruity taste with cooling feelings. It has a moderated taste of fruit infused water. It has different variations if you try to mix it with other fruits:
- Replace limes with lemons if this is what you have in your kitchen.
- Use any sweet/watery fruits you like, such as melon, honeydew, mango, cantaloupe and create your agua fresca drink.
- Rim glasses to make them look elegant and fancy.
- Add mint for freshness.
- Add rum or tequila if you want your agua fresca drink to be heady and more enjoyable.
