Baked chicken meatballs are a delicious second course based on white meat that is very healthy as well as very easy to prepare. The meatballs are perfect for the little ones, but also appreciated by adults for their appealing look, delicious aroma, and taste.
Ingredients for chicken meatballs
Chicken meatballs are a tasty and light main course, ideally served as an appetizer on big family parties with lots of hungry stomachs. For the preparation, you can use already minced chicken or buy fresh boneless thighs and breasts to do your own minced chicken meat. Pass the hard work to the mixer. No matter your choice, make sure the meat is fresh, with a nice aspect and a good smell. For a healthier version of chicken meatballs, remove the skin, however, if you decide to leave the skin, the consistency will be fattier, yet a bit tastier.
The meat will then be mixed with eggs, onion, garlic cloves, cheese, breadcrumbs, sesame seeds, parsley, salt, and pepper. In this way, you will create delicious and nutritious chicken meatballs, which will appeal to young and old. You can cook the meatballs in the oven, as in my recipe, or fry them in a pan, they will still be soft, and accompany them with fresh seasonal salad, along with your favorite sauces.
How to make chicken meatballs?
Take a large bowl because you will have to mix all the ingredients. Start with the minced meat. Put it in the bowl then start adding all the ingredients. Crack 4 eggs, grate 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and also add it to the bowl.
For the composition to get a more intense taste and crispiness, add 1 cup of sesame seeds. I know it may seem strange, but believe me, these will be the most delicious and crispy and special chicken meatballs you have ever tried. Also, for the ingredients to bound better, add a cup of breadcrumbs.
Finally, peel the onion and the garlic cloves. Use a grater to finely grate the onion and the garlic. Now chop some parsley and add it to the meat along with the onion, garlic, salt, paprika, and ground pepper.
Now use your hands or take a spoon to mix all the ingredients. Mix well so that all ingredients are evenly spread, and that each small meatball will be loaded with all the ingredients.
The mixture shouldn’t be very moist. It should take any shape you’re modeling with your hands. At this point, the meat is ready to be modeled into lots of small balls and taken into the oven to get baked.
How to shape meatballs?
The most time-consuming part of this recipe is the shaping of the chicken meatballs. However, don’t be despair, i will share with you some very useful techniques that will speed up the process and will help you get perfectly shaped and even meatballs to serve.
As a first thing, line a baking tray with a sheet of parchment paper. You will create the balls and lay them directly on the baking tray for time-optimization.
Now wash your hands and get to the real business. Now here you have to decide which way to go, use your bare hands, or cheat, and use an icecream scoop:)
If you don’t have an ice-cream scoop, just make sure your hands are wet when rolling. Portion your meatballs with a tablespoon. Always roll the meat with wet hands, or grease them with regular oil. If your palms are dry, the meat will stick to your hands and you won’t be able to get the desired result.
Now that the tray is filled with rows of beautiful chicken meatballs, it’s time to preheat the oven.
How to bake Chicken Meatballs?
Baking starts with preheating the oven. As I always recommend to our beloved readers, preheat the oven for at least 10 minutes. The hotter the oven – the better the final result. Finally, let the magic happen. Insert the baking tray into the hot oven and let the chicken meatballs bake for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees. You will understand when they are ready by their beautiful golden-brown crust. Then take the tray out of the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
How to serve chicken meatballs?
Serve the crispy and tender chicken meatballs with any of your favorite sauces such as tzatziki, taco sauce, or simple homemade mayo. Also, pair the meatballs with a refreshing salad like tomato salad or country salad. For a full meal, serve the meatballs next to carbohydrates such as buckwheat or potatoes.
How to store chicken meatballs?
The good news is that you can shape the meatballs and freeze them for up to 2 weeks. Just let them thaw and bake them whenever you need them.
Also, you can keep already baked chicken meatballs in the fridge for 1 day in an airtight container. Heat them in the microwave before serving.
