What is a punch?
A punch is a kind of cocktail made of alcohol or alcohol-free, with fruits or fruit juices. A Christmas punch generally contains both combinations. Moreover, it is made of champagne, spirits, pomegranate fruits, juices to obtain a festive result. This great and yummy beverage is great to keep all your guest’s drinks topped up, as no Christmas table is complete without this delicious punch.Â
How to make Christmas punch?
I adore Christmas tables – they look so festive, so yummy, so caloric, and so dizzy. This bubbling punch is one of the easiest cocktails to make, and worth any ingredient. Usually, for the best Christmas punch, I buy the best quality sparkling wine to have a delicious cocktail.Â
Punches can be done in many ways, one of the ways I make is super easy and tasty. I add 3.5 oz (100gr) of Cointreau to accentuate the orange taste and to make it less heady, as I try to substitute vodka.Â
So, 1 bottle of sparkling champagne goes to 3.5 oz of Cointreau next to 1 cup of pomegranate juice, 1 cup of orange juice, and 7oz (200 g) of frozen fruits. Mix all the ingredients well and serve separately in some nice glasses topped with some fruits. Simple and very flavorful. The color it gets is mouth-watering. This pinky color punch always invites you to try.Â
For those that don’t drink alcohol, this punch can be done alcohol-free just with fruits and fruit juices.Â
You may find punch recipes with vodka, and you will not fail to add it to your punch, but I adore Cointreau’s aroma more than vodka and this is why I skip it. However, both versions are very good and tasty – it depends on your preferences. Â
Christmas punch tips:
- Cointreau vs Vodka – both options are good you can choose what you like more.
- Â Fruits: fresh or frozen cranberries are both welcomed. Other fruits can make this punch taste amazing, as well.
- Sparkling wine, champagne or prosecco is also optional as you can choose from the vast variety available nowadays.
Make all your ingredients be balanced and in case you think it is too sweet, add some citrus. On the contrary, if you think it is too acidic, add some more Cointreau or fruits. I always go for some more drops of Cointreau. Play with all the ingredients to obtain the most delicious Christmas punch and try to have fun with it. Â
