Even though I have mentioned in one of my articles that baked corn is one of my favorites sweet corn versions. Now, I have to admit that instant pot boiled corn is much easier, quicker, sweeter, juicer, and tender. I don’t what to negate that baked corn isn’t already one of my beloved dishes. But, I have to admit that boiling the corn in an instant pot is a super-easy way to obtain fabulous sweet corn. It comes out perfectly cooked and with a flavorful taste. Grease some sea salt over the corn and you will serve a great snack or appetizer. Also, boiled corn is a great add-in in many salads, to some grilled meat or fish. It nicely and healthily completes an evening table.
In my family, boiled, grilled, or baked corn is all much appreciated. We love and enjoy some corn in the late summer evenings.

If you are used to boiling your corn, then you have to try boiling it in an instant pot. It is a faster and much cleaner process, as you don’t need to watch a pot on the stove. Once, I have tried boiling the corn and it gets so juicy and tender, that since then I never boil it on a stove. Simple and clever.
How to choose the best sweet corn?
Simply and easily. If you have a local farmer market then you will buy nice-looking and fresh corn. In case you buy it in markets than be aware to choose bright green husks. The husks should be wrapped tightly around the cob, and try to avoid dry or bad-looking husks.
The tassel, or the silk tail, should also look fresh with a pale golden to brown color. Try to avoid black tassel color or a dry one.
Look to buy fresh stalks that have just a few days. They will taste fresher and more like a milk-taste.
Check if it doesn’t have insect holes and try to choose firm and tough corn.
How do you steam corn in an instant pot?
Steaming the corn in an instant pot isn’t that hard. Place in your instant pot as many as you desire corn and be sure that the lid is sealed. Cook on high pressure the corn without husk about 3-5 minutes. Or, cook the corn with husk about 4-6 minutes.
How much time do you boil the corn?
Boiling the corn depends on the size and shape it has. If the corn is young then cook it less, if your corn is mature and big then cook it longer. Usually, boiling the corn needs no more than 10 minutes.
How to cook corn on the cob in an instant pot?
To make sure the corns perfectly fit in the pot you may think cutting off the edges. Also, you may leave them as they are or peel them off. Arrange the corns inside the pot first, then pour in the water. Add as much water as to cover the corn.
Now close the lid of the instant pot and select and press the “boil” button. Let them boil with the lid on for about 10 minutes. In the meantime, get the butter, the salt or /and the cheese on the table, you will need those to condiment the corn.
When the cooking time expires, the instant pot will let you know by releasing a signal. That’s when it will stop boiling. At this point open the lid, don’t forget there will be steam, so make sure not to get burnt by the hot steam when opening the lid.
Use a fork to tale out the corn from the pot. You can place it on a paper towel so that it soaks the excess water. Now sprinkle with salt and slather with butter or cheese. Have fun!
Boiled corn on the cob tips
- Do not add salt in the water when boiling the corn
- Add one tbsp sugar to the boiling water. The corn will absorb the sugar, thus, will become sweeter
- Cut off the edge of the corn to fir the pot
- Arrange the corn in the pot first, then pour water
- Butter the corn first, then salt it
- Sprinkle with parmesan or goat cheese.
- Serve hot or warm

- 4 corns
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter optional
- 2 tbsp goat cheese optional
Instructions
- Prepare the corn, peel it off and remove the silks
- Cut the edge if necessary so that it fits in the instant pot
- Pour the water to cover the corn
- Set the boiling program. Let boil for 7-10 minutes
- Use a fork to take out the corn and place on a plate
