What is rice?
Rice is a cereal grain that is very popular in Asia. People are eating rice by their hands, with sticks, or a fork. It is one of the most popular garnitures in the world that can be nicely served next to fried or baked meat, fish, a good ingredient in soups and different other dishes. Rice is one of the main ingredients in sushi that is so famous nowadays.Â
What can I say about rice? Well, I am not that kind of rice-fan person but served with some sweet/garlic chicken sauce or meatballs then this dish quickly conquers my heart.Â
In my family, such side dishes like rice, mashed potatoes, buckwheat, or other grain cereals are never welcomed. However, served with a piece of delicious meat, or meat in sauce, then this meal turns into a healthy and flavorful evening. So such tricks I am always making to offer them balanced healthy recipes.Â
For example, my daughter simply adores sushi – she said that sushi is her favourite dish. But if I want to make her eat just Basmati rice with a piece of fish – then the result will be negative. So, I try to combine pleasure with healthy and good idea recipes.  You can also check my recipe rice and veggies.

What is the ratio of water to rice when cooking basmati rice?
The rule is simple and easy, anytime you cook rice you have to know: 1 cup of rice need one and a half of two cups of water. I usually add one cup to 2 cups of water.Â
Why is my basmati rice sticky?
Basmati rice gets sticky and mushy if it is cooked too much or has less water then the rule says. Generally speaking, Basmati rice is one of the kinds of rice that doesn’t get too mushy or sticky. However, the rule has to be followed strictly, as well. Also, in case you want fluffy and delicious rice you can soak the rice in water and leave it for some minutes to reduce some of the starch which makes the rice look that sticky.
