How to make garlic butter with herbs?
To prepare the Garlic Butter with herbs, take the regular butter out of the refrigerator and let it soften for at least 2 hours at room temperature. Do not microwave it nor melt it on the stove. You need softened butter, not melted.
In the meantime, preheat oven at 350 degrees. While the oven gets to the right temperature, proceed to peel the garlic. Peel lots of garlic cloves, the more garlic you have, the richer the final taste of the butter. For my butter, I peeled 10 garlic heads. When done, put the garlic on a baking tray and insert it in the oven. Do not add anything, just the garlic alone. Let it bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
While the garlic is getting roasted, get your attention to the herbs. Wash well all your favorite herbs and tap with a paper towel to absorb excess water. Now take a sharp knife and chop everything. I recommend fine chopping of the herbs, the smaller the pieces, the finer the butter texture.
Take the garlic out of the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. With the help of a fork, press and crush the roast garlic until it becomes one mass. You can use a hand blender as well.
In a bowl put the freshly prepared mince, the well-softened butter cut into cubes, and the garlic mass and mix well until a homogeneous cream is obtained. Your butter is ready! Put the soft butter in a container and let it harden in the fridge.
How to Store Garlic Butter with Herbs?
You can keep the garlic butter in the refrigerator for about a month by putting it in an airtight container. You can as well freeze it and save it for a longer period of time. In this case, you can have it stored for about 2 months and serve it as fresh whenever taken out.
See below the main tricks in obtaining the most delicious flavored homemade garlic butter with herbs.
Use well-softened butter
Leave the butter at room temperature for about 2 hours. Transfer it to a bowl, and crush it with a fork until it becomes creamy. To ease the procedure, you can help yourself with a mixer or an electric whisk.
Add herbs and spices
For the spices and herbs to blend better, gradually add small portions and continuously mix, this is how you obtain a homogeneous butter. In this case, as well, you can use an electric whisk, however, do not set the fastest program.
Give butter a shape
When the mixture is ready, give the butter a new shape. You can put it in a container or a jar. Or, for a more “professional” shape, you can place it on aluminum foil, give it a cylindrical shape, close it well, and transfer it to the fridge.
Let rest in the fridge
Transferring the butter to the fridge is important as it ensures 2 things. First, It gives a new hardened consistency to the butter. Second, it encloses the flavors of the newly added ingredients.
