Healthy Black Bean Salad with Bacon

Black bean salad with bacon

Black bean salad is a very colorful, refreshing, and satisfying salad with dressing at your choice. This attainable and fresh salad will be one of the best side dishes for any meal.

Salads are always the best option to pair with any hearty dish. I adore salads and try to teach my daughter to eat as much as possible. I like to make different types of salads and to experience with ingredients and tastes. For example, the bean salad I have prepared for today is derived from the classic one. This is because I have added bacon, which I simply adore in any salads. The crunchy and crispy feeling I have in my mouth combined with greenies and black beans are simply toothsome.

What I love most about this salad, despite the divine taste, is its festive-looking aspect. I adore serving my guests with fresh and colorful salads as appetizers. A bowl of this healthy salad served next to any meat or fish will complete your evening on a pleasant and delightful note. I always try to have avocados and canned beans in my kitchen as it saves me time when I want to make a quick but tasty and hearty salad. This salad is great next to any dish, but there are evenings when I crave only a satisfying and delish bowl of black bean salad without anything.

This is definitely one of my favorite ways to spoil my family enjoying this healthy bean salad recipe in minutes.

How to make black bean salad?

This salad is easy to make and flavorful to enjoy. Here you can experience with different ingredients either you want it spicier, refresher, or more heartier. For me, an ideal salad has to combine green and healthy veggies with tasty and protein-packed ingredients.

For this salad, you will have to first drain the black beans of the liquid that it has inside. Optional, you can rinse them with water to avoid saltiness of the beans.

Take a bowl and mix all the ingredients; the arugula, chopped avocado, half chopped cherries, canned black beans, fried bacon (optional), by seasoning with sesame and olive oil, and some lemon juice. Decorate the salad with some Balsamic glaze lines and top a slice of lime.

This simple salad will definitely make your day.

What is black bean salad?

This is a flavor-packed healthy salad full of veggies and aromatic seasoning. Adding some fried bacon is optional, but for me, it only accentuates the fresh and salty tastes. This refreshing and hearty salad is a great appetizer on any party tables, or next to any main course dish.

Are black beans healthy?

Black beans are a good source of key vitamins and minerals beneficial to our health. Like other veggies, such as peas, lentils, or peanuts, black beans are high in proteins, selenium, fibers, and an ideal helper to digestion. Many aged people are required to eat more beans daily or weekly to maintain a healthy metabolism.

Do you need to heat canned black beans?

Canned black beans are already pre-cooked. Making this process at home will take up to 1.5 to 2 hours to obtain soft and creamy beans. Canned and bought ones are easier and quicker to use. They aren’t raw so the only thing you will have to do is to drain the liquid from the inside and use them as they are. Using these beans in a cold salad needs no heating.

How to store?

This bean salad can be easily made in advance. You can make it some hours before serving, or even in the evening. The trick here lays in no need for seasoning if storing this comforting salad. Just toss all the ingredients in your seasonings at the time you want to serve it. This salad is ready in 5-8 minutes, I think a better way to taste the real fresh taste is to assemble it at the time of serving.

Keep in mind not to allow this best bean salad to sit out longer. Better to keep it in your fridge before placing it on the table.

Tips:

  • Use either canned black beans or white ones. Bought ones will save you much time and effort.
  • Try to buy canned black beans that are low in sodium. Rinse with water optional.
  • Substitute bacon with peas, bell peppers, shrimp, chicken meat, or any other ingredient you want to make it as a main course.
  • Add jalapenos or hot chili peppers if you want a spicier taste.
  • Skip the lemon juice with lime one, if you seek an authentic Mexican taste.
  • Serve this salad with some nachos or chips.

This healthy black bean salad is one of my favorite recipes I make in the summertime or for parties. This flavor-packed salad has a nice-looking aspect, a delicious taste, and is ready in just minutes.
