Cracked Out Turkey Pinwheels are absolutely wonderful when you are looking to cook something special for your lovely family but without putting too much effort.
Being it a kind of fast-food or to-go food a lot of markets offers a big variety of Turkey Pinwheels. However, my Pinwheels Recipe is more simple and easier to prepare than you can think, this is why I never buy this type of snacks in the markets.
Turkey Pinwheels are perfect appetizers, snacks for trips or lunch boxes or even for big parties at home. In just a few minutes you can prepare a big portion of Cracked Out Pinwheels with minimum effort and cost. This meal looks very pretty on plates. It will decorate your table and for sure will be a hit at your parties.
Generally speaking, Pinwheels are something very similar to Mexican Burrito but with fewer ingredients and could be served either hot or cold. I chose to prepare pinwheels with turkey ham because as I consider this kind of meat healthier than the chicken one, and not greasy at all, but has a smoked taste perfectly combined with other ingredients. Of course, it is better to use some homemade prepared meat, but when I absolutely do not have time to cook I opt for commercial one. When it comes to market I always choose high quality and fresh products.
The vegetable selection here is infinite from fresh and juicy tomatoes to cucumbers, bell peppers, beans, corn, spring onions, and others. You can play as much as you want by combining toppings and different tastes.
On the inside part of the tortillas, I greased with cream cheese because I want my pinwheels as healthy as they could be. However, you can use homemade mayonnaise, a tomato sauce, or ketchup if you are a fan of one of them.
The good combination of carbs and proteins makes my Turkey Pinwheels a good snack for my husband before the gym.
Cracked Out Turkey Pinwheels are perfect in any situation of our daily routine.
What do we need for Crack Turkey Pinwheels?
Being honest, when I am going to prepare some Crack Turkey Pinwheels I do not need to go to the market, all the time. Usually, I have all the ingredients in my fridge. Possible it is because my little daughter is a big fan of all kinds of ham, I think like most kids are. Also, already for some time, I am using to eat healthy tortilla (made of whole-wheat) instead of bread. Another ingredient that has never missed from my fridge is cream cheese. These are the main ingredients for Crack Turkey Pinwheels. As extra ingredients, you can add whatever you want, extra cheese (I love Cheddar), for freshness some vegetables (I adore avocado and cherry tomatoes), spices or instead of them I use garlic and dill.
How do you make Cracked Out Turkey Pinwheels?
I can say that I am a big lover of garlic! And, I try to add it in my every possible meal, in meat or fish dishes, in all kinds of marinades, salted pies, canapes or even in most kinds of Pinwheels I am making. First, I start with vegetables. For this homemade Cracked Out Turkey Pinwheels, I use half of the avocado and 4 cherry tomatoes. I cut them in medium size. Then I prepare the cream cheese mixture by chopping 1-2 cloves of garlic (it depends how much you love it and the size of the cloves). Then I take some dill and chop it too. In a small bowl, I mix 8 oz (1 pack) of softened cream cheese with chopped garlic and dill. The fresh smell from the dill and just chopped flavorful garlic will give to your cream cheese mixture an unbelievable taste. On the inside part of the tortilla, I grease this cream cheese mixture and then I start laying with 3 leaves of salad. Then I continue assembling Pinwheels by arranging one by one of the remaining ingredients: 6-8 slices of turkey ham (depends on size), half slices of avocado, 3 slices of Cheddar cheese and tomatoes. Then, I roll up the Turkey Pinwheels tightly making sure that it holds together and keeps the shape. Before cutting in slices, I recommend refrigerating the turkey pinwheel for at least half an hour, in order to cut it properly and nicely. When Turkey Pinwheels are ready for serving cut them into 1-inch slices.
How to store Turkey Pinwheels?
Turkey Pinwheels as many other kinds of sandwiches can be kept fresh in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Just wrap them gently in a piece of cling film. If you leave them longer, they will probably be not too juicy and tasty, as well as they will lose their freshness and deliciousness. Because of creamy cheese, the tortilla will become too soggy, and vegetables from inside will not look good at all. I also do not recommend to freeze Pinwheels, because they do not taste as they should even after reheating. This recipe does not need too much effort to be prepared, this is why do not hesitate to prepare them fresh and juicy.
Turkey Pinwheels Tips:
- In order to save some time before parting you can roll your Turkey Pinwheels ahead and refrigerate until your guests have come. But it should be no more than 24 hours ahead.
- Instead of Turkey ham, you can use any other meat you love or have in your fridge.
- To obtain perfect Pinwheel chill rolls for a couple of hours before cutting.
- To prevent cracking use soft and fresh tortilla and do not grill them before wrapping.
- If you are a fan of spicy food, as I am, add with no doubt some chili pepper. This time I have used my homemade canned chili peppers and added some of them inside for a better and hotter taste.
My family loves this hearty and satisfying Cracked Out Turkey Pinwheels recipe and every time I prepare them, they could not stop eating them! These pinwheels are the best appetizers that I simply adore and could not resist not eating them even in the evenings!!!
