What are fajitas?
Fajitas are a typical dish of Mexican cuisine, a classic street food widespread throughout Central America. The fajita is prepared with tortilla stuffed with delicious meat filling, vegetables, and spicy sauces such s pico de gallo. However, it can also be easily prepared without meat, perfect for those who are vegan or vegetarian.

Another great thing about this recipe is that you don’t need to spend a fortune to prepare a delicious meal. Fajitas have 3 basic ingredients: chicken meat, bell peppers, and tortillas. With this base of ingredients, you can bring Mexico to your kitchen in less than half an hour.
Additionally, to enrich the taste of the meat you will need spices such as paprika, oregano, cumin, and garlic powder. Furthermore, for a more filling consistency of the chicken fajitas, don’t skip some sour cream and the famous Mexican sauce pico de gallo. You can find the sauce in any supermarket or you can prepare it at home. See the recipe of Tacos to find how to prepare homemade Pico de Gallo.
How to prepare the meat for chicken fajitas?
The preparation of the meat is the most important aspect of the recipe. When the chicken breasts are properly seasoned and cooked, which is very easy to accomplish, the fajitas will conquer everyone at the table.
Therefore, prepare your seasoning because you need to cover the meat thoroughly in flavourful spices. In a bowl mix the spices then generously sprinkle all over the chicken breast. Rub in the spices for better absorption.
Heat a skillet and drizzle some olive oil. Then, when the pan is hot, put the seasoned chicken breasts to brown. In about 3-4 minutes turn sides and allow the heat to do its job for another 3-4 minutes. Keep the flame at medium. You will feel the strong yet delicious smell spreading throughout the kitchen area. When done, use kitchen tongs to take out the meat and place it on a cutting board. Slice the meat in about half an inch pieces, then cut each piece in half.
The meat is ready, it’s time to proceed to the bell peppers.
How to prepare bell peppers for the fajitas?
Wash the colorful bell peppers, remove the stem and the seeds and slice it. Then, put the bell pepper slices to fry in the same pan you’ve previously fried the season chicken breasts. Slice one onion and add it next to the bell peppers for some extra taste and aroma. Season with a bit of salt and mix often. Saute the rainbowy veggies for about 5-7 minutes. If you like it crunchier, remove the pan from the flame in 5 minutes.
How to make chicken fajitas?
As soon as the bell peppers are done, add in the slices of chicken breast and mix. Squeeze the juice out of half a lime, chop and sprinkle some fresh parsley and mix again. Remove pan from the stove.
