Frozen Berry Smoothie with coconut milk

A smoothie is always a healthy and delicious way to pack in extra fruits or vegetables for breakfast or dinner. Smoothies are not just some blended fruits or veggies – it is an art in a glass to be enjoyed.

We like different kinds of smoothies in our family. We try to drink them on a daily basis and to savor the delicious taste from the fruits blended in smoothies. Definitely, in summer when the fruits are fresher and with a tasty aroma, these protein smoothies seem better. However, this is not a problem not to drink them in winter, as well. I try to avoid any ice cubes when I make them on cold days. But the pleasure is lingering when you drink in a rich and delicious smoothie.

Today, I will talk about sweet berry smoothie that is so popular and so healthy. I usually make green smoothies, detox smoothies, but a sweet and dazzling fruit smoothie is more appreciated in our house. When I am after an extra shot of vitamins, frozen berries blended with coconut milk and some oats, is insanely what I want. Fresh berries taste better in a smoothie, but when it is winter outside, and I have some frozen ones, I definitely blend and indulge myself with a healthy dose of vitamins. For Note: when in summer I buy fresh fruits, I freeze them in a vacuum sealer and store them until cold days. This great technique helps me avoid expensive and untasty frozen fruits bought in stores.

This berry smoothie is absolutely delicious and ideal when you are out of time to make a meal or to eat it:). This versatile berry smoothie is one of my all-time favorite quick and healthy breakfast. I usually try to experience different tastes, this is why I make this berry smoothie mixed either with milk or yogurt. I like both versions, but this time I made it with coconut milk for a better aroma and for the best taste. Yogurt or coconut milk will make your smoothie have a rich, more intense and thick structure, however, you can skip it and make it dairy-free. Making drink my daughter any kind of smoothies is a challenge in our house. She doesn’t like these kinds of smoothies, but she likes fresh fruits. This is why when I prepare all the ingredients, I allow her to blend all the ingredients – and this is the way she may drink some of it.

Smoothies are truly nutritious full of antioxidants and super delicious drinks to start your day right, healthy, and appetizingly. Also note: I try to add maple syrup or honey to sweeten the smoothie and try to avoid sugar or other sweeteners.

This berry smoothie is a ‘fruitulgence’, very creamy, juicy and truly nutritious.

How to make berry smoothie?

Frozen Berry Smoothie ingredients

There isn’t a certain technique for the best berry smoothie. The only thing I know is that if you use good quality products, fresh ingredients then you will enjoy the best berry smoothie recipe.

I will put it down the method I use to make for many years and some secret points. First of all, I take off the frozen fruits and let them thaw until soft and juicy. I leave them at room temperature for 1-2 hours to avoid the melting water in a smoothie. If you blend them at once, then your smoothie will have a light texture with much water, but it is at your discretion how to use the fruits. Also, I try to avoid too cold drinks, especially to my daughter.

In a blender, I add 1 cup of berries to 2 cups of coconut milk and all these ingredients I blend until a smooth puree, then I add 1 tbsp of oats and 1 tbsp of maple syrup (if you want a more sweeter smoothie you can add more spoons of maple or sugar). I blend about 1 minute until the consistency is pureed, but neither too thick nor too liquid.

I garnish it with some fresh fruits available in my fridge and serve immediately.

Any smoothie you will make at home will save you a lot of time, effort and imagination. I adore smoothies, and the benefits it offers. Enjoy a divine smoothie cup and be healthy and satisfied all day.

How to make a mix of berry smoothie?

A berry smoothie has a vast imagination. Here, you can add any other fruit you like to make it more consistent, more caloric or on the contrary more dietary. Berries go perfect with bananas, strawberries, flaxseeds, nuts or anything else you like. These recipes are loaded with flavors and are a great start to your day. Add to the blender any fruits you like to mix with milk or yogurt, flaxseeds, and some sweeteners and et voila – the best smoothie you can mix and savor.

Frozen Berry Smoothie with coconut milkWhat else to add in a berry smoothie?

  • You can add plain or fat yogurt.
  • Proteins can be an idea and a good solution for many people that seek a healthy and hearty smoothie.
  • Juices are also an idea instead of milk or yogurt.
  • Ice – in summer it is more than welcome, however, in winter I try to avoid ice cubes.

How many calories are in a berry smoothie?

The calories in a smoothie are different. If you want a dietary green smoothie than the calories will be low, however, when you blend a dose of good calories like bananas, nuts, or oats than the calories rise. However, such calories are welcomed and very beneficial to our metabolism and to an energetic lifestyle.

It depends on the ingredients you use, but keep in mind that these are good calories and very healthy.

Recipe Tips:

  • Fruits are rich in sugar and are great natural sweeteners, this is why I add some drops of maple syrup. I try to avoid sugar. However, if you want a sweet smoothie you can add honey as it works great in this recipe.
  • Substitute the regular cow milk with a coconut or almond one.
  • A plain yogurt is an option if you want a dietary smoothie.
  • Mix ice cubes if you want it more liquid, or add more fruits if you want it thicker.
  • Add flaxseeds or peanut butter for more proteins and a savory taste.
