Make your Thanksgiving more appetizingly and delicious with this inventive leftover turkey sandwich recipe. This inspiring, wholesome and healthy sandwiches will be ideal for lunch or dinner.Â
Thanksgiving holiday is coming and we are always eager to invent new dishes that look nice and of course are healthy, easy and delicious. Tables are full of flavored and beautiful meals, but the problem with the remaining food is the question. The answer is simple: make some hot/grilled sandwiches with the leftover turkey meat by adding fresh vegetables, dressings, and seasonings. Â
The best Turkey Sandwiches are made very quickly, easy, and of different delicious filling ideas. I adore making many kinds of sandwiches as my daughter simply adores them. The perfect balance between the meat, fresh veggies, my home-made mayo, and some greenies is more than just a healthy dozen of a meal. The flavors gathered together will leave your mouth full of flavors, savoriness, and delicious aromas. This kind of sandwich, made of garlic-mustard mayo, dresses up all the ingredients from the inside and creates a tempting and outstanding taste. I adore cooking, baking – but when it comes to inventing a healthy and easy sandwich – then this is the point I like the most. A freshly sliced bread, made of whole wheat flour, topped with fresh greenies, veggies, a qualitative baked or smoked turkey meat and all these flavors infused in my home-made mayo will make this easy recipe one of your favorites.Â
When I have more time for cooking I always try to bake or roast the meat, be it either a turkey or a chicken. I like sandwiches that are hearty and satisfying. However, when I am out of time I use a very qualitative Turkey ham with everything I have in my kitchen. I adore to combine different flavors, but with some raw veggies like onions or garlic, my sandwich is out of heaven due to its fresh and great taste.Â
How to make a Turkey Sandwich?
A fabulous sandwich made of leftover turkey meat is all you need after plentiful and lush dinners. Something fresh, crunchy, not heavy, but a delicious sandwich is all you want to eat after copious evenings.Â
The best Turkey Sandwich recipe is easy and healthy: you have to combine turkey meat with fresh or grilled veggies, add seasoning and toppings. The recipe I have made for today is inspired by my mom’s secrets. I roast 2 slices of freshly bought baguette on each side no more than 1 minute just to make them crunchy. On each slice of bread, I grease my home-made garlic-mayo – for this time I have added 2 finely chopped cloves of garlic for a more intense aroma. Top over arugula or any other greenies you like and have, Turkey ham, fresh slices of cucumber, some wheels of onion and a fried egg, optional!
I didn’t use cheese for this recipe, as I wanted it more dietary, easier, and fresher. But, it is okay and great if you put some cheese inside the sandwich. I think no one can resist this tasty and yummy sandwich. Â
It is so simple, and so juicy.
How many calories in a Turkey Sandwich?
Well, the calories in a sandwich depending on the consistency and the ingredients you use. Of course, my Turkey sandwich is made of home-made mayo, which is caloric, but worth any calories as it is made of qualitative eggs, mustard and oil. If you use cheese, okay a lot of cheese as I love to add and eat then the calories rise and make it a hearty and utterly delicious sandwich. My turkey sandwich, which I have made more dietary, is not too caloric, but tasteful. Also, you can go for a gluten-free, or vegetarian sandwich that will have low calories, but I think that it will not be as delicious and flavorful as a mayo turkey sandwich loaded with fresh veggies.Â
It is difficult to say exactly how many calories you should eat per day, or how much does my sandwich contain. I made my sandwiches from half of a banquette for 3 people, but someone can physically eat it by himself. I try to not cook too copious dinners, but when I do this I try to introduce a lot of veggies, salads, or greenies to make the portions perfectly balanced. Â
How to store Turkey Sandwich?
I have never stored any of my sandwiches as I like to eat them immediately, or sometimes I put them in my lunchbox and have them lunch, but not longer. In the container, the sandwich perfectly absorbs the mayo and makes the sandwich more succulent and juicy. Even though I like it more crunchy and fresher, I do sometimes take with me some sandwiches to eat for lunch, or sometimes for family picnics. I never fridge it.Â
Turkey Sandwich Tips:
- Substitute the mayo from the stores with a creamy and tasty home-made one. You can check my recipe for a 2-minute home-made mayonnaise.Â
- You can substitute turkey meat with any kind of meat you like, either roast beef, or pork can be a great idea for a tasty and yummy sandwich.
- Cheese here is optional, but sometimes I also like to add some hard cheese like Cheddar or Emmentaler.  Â
- Veggies: here you can let your imagination free. Anything will be great inside of a delicious sandwich.Â
- Â I consider that some slices of freshly cut onions add a great fresh and crunchy taste that I simply adore and recommend to everyone.Â
A freshly served Turkey Sandwich is sometimes all you need on a daily basis. I usually like to have more healthy lunches or dinners, but sometimes I spoil myself and my family with my home-made delicious Turkey Sandwiches.
