The Classic Tomato Spaghetti with Basil & Parmesan

Ingredients

  • 11 oz spaghetti
  • 1 can tomatoes peeled
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp basil dried
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup parmesan grated
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 tbsp sugar optional

Instructions

  • Saute the slices of garlic for about 1 minute in the olive oil
  • Add one can of peeled tomatoes, let it simmer for about 2 minutes
  • Add the tomato sauce and season with salt and dried basil
  • Let simmer for at least 30 minutes on low heat. Stir occasionally
  • When the sauce is ready, turn off the stove and add a handful of grated parmesan, mix well for the cheese to melt it.
  • Cook the pasta in abundant boiling salted water according to the package instructions
  • Drain the al dente spaghetti directly into the sauce and mix
  • Garnish with fresh basil and some extra parmesan at your taste. Enjoy!
